 I'm not a big fan of mirror lenses so I could be biased May 9, 2009

I don't know what possessed me to purchase this lens, other than a severe hormonal crash and the lacking of good chocolate at the time. I've never run anything with a mirror lens. I thought as my years advanced, the light weight would be very attractive to me. I do have to say, the mirror lens picks up every visual defect conceivable. It wasn't a total loss however. Plunked upon a nice sturdy tripod, you can get some fairly decent shots of the moon. Night shots seems like a usable niche for a mirror lens.
What I do recommend for about the same price is the non-mirror 500mm F8-F32 manual preset super telephoto distributed by the same company. With the preset, the images are surprisingly sharp and clean. Since I don't have thousands of dollars to be throwing at telephoto lenses, the manual preset does the job well.

A very poor choice for a lens. Would not recommend this lens unless it comes with a generous return policy.
Lens is not sharp & has very poor contrast.
